Pitch Repertoire At-A-Glance

Although they have not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Jonathan Holder threw 4,252 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2016 and 2023, including pitches thrown in the MLB Regular Season and Spring Training. In 2023, they relied primarily on their Fourseam Fastball (93mph) and Slider (81mph), also mixing in a Splitter (86mph), Sinker (93mph) and Curve (80mph). He also rarely threw a Cutter (89mph) and Change (87mph).

In 2023, compared to other RHP:
Their fourseam fastball generates more whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has less armside movement than typical, has some natural sinking action and has essentially average velo. Their slider sweeps across the zone, has below average velo and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sliders. Their splitter has some natural sink to it and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' splitters. Their sinker is a real worm killer that generates an extreme number of groundballs compared to other pitchers' sinkers and has surprisingly little armside run. Their curve is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' curves, is slightly harder than usual and has primarily 12-6 movement. Their cutter is an extreme flyball pitch compared to other pitchers' cutters, generates fewer whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' cutters, has some natural sink and has strong cutting action. Their change (take this with a grain of salt because they've only thrown 5 of them in 2023) is basically never swung at and missed compared to other pitchers' changeups, is much firmer than usual and results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' changeups.
